Birth of a Healer

In times of heaviness, poetry can open a new path forward. Birth of a Healer is about how suffering, transformed with intention, can become a force for healing — for ourselves, and for others.

Birth of a Healer

She rose up as a child, yet not a child

They are all lost children, the Spirit told her
I will lose my childhood, she told the Spirit

And still she stepped forth, and became girl-woman
She sacrificed innocence, and wonder, and discovery
Because she was born KNOWING

While the man-child and the woman-child fell helplessly at her feet
They dissolved into dust
They let their souls decay

The girl-woman consumed the ashes of their despair, and she learned their pain, their mistakes, their truth

The girl woman was already on a different path
She had talked to the Spirit
She was born KNOWING
She did not need their ashes

But, someone else will need those truths
So she carries them.
Ready.

The Poem in Voice and Image

I recorded Birth of a Healer with harp music and mountain scenery — the landscape that holds so much of my own healing journey.

Take the Poem Home

If you’d like to bring Birth of a Healer into your own space, I’ve created fine art prints featuring C. Jacobsen’s hand-lettered calligraphy of the poem. Each print is hand-signed, making it a meaningful keepsake or gift.

A Note of Gratitude

Thank you for letting me share this piece of my journey with you. May it offer a moment of stillness — and perhaps even spark your own healing.
